my grandfather leonard william starkey worked at baddsley ensor pit from what age i do not know . in 1915 he was called up to the royal enginners to join a tunnelling company he survived the war then married ,llian waite from austrey . ibelive he may have been born around 1892 the eldest son of a charles & annie starkey . they lived in kingsbury he was also a miner he was deceased by 1918/19 how long they lived at keys hill iam not sure they moved in to a new council house at 41 spon lane grendon inabout 1939 .he carried on working at the pit well past retirement age and passed away in 1980

My maternal grandfather was Harry Fretwell, born 15-2-1903, son of William James Fretwell, born 21-7-1869, who ran the Red Lion Inn in the village, and built their house, Rosedean, next to the school. William's father was Thomas, born 1847 in Pinkston, Derby.Harry worked in the local coal mine and married Marjorie Hepplewhite, who lived in the same village. His father William married Annie Atkins, also from the village.Any information about the Atkins, Fretwells or Hepplewhites gratefully received.

I am trying to trace anyone that may have some information on the family. There is a story that my grandmother lost brother(s) in a mining accident but name of mine not known.
