red mail Gillespie family from Strabane
Hi, Im researching a William Gillespie born around 1830 possibly in the area of Strabane. He had at least one brother named James and they both emigrated to Prince Edward Island Canada sometime before 1852. The family originated in Ruthwell, Dumfrieshire Scotland with relatives there who moved directly from Scotland to PEI. Not completely sure but their Fathers name was most likely John. Any information on this family or any Gillespies in the area would be gratefully appreciated.
red mail Hughes Donnelly
I am researching my Hughes family history going back to Ireland. My G Grandad (Edward Hughes) was born in Strabane in 1854. His parents were John and Catherine Hughes M.S. Donnelly. Edward Hughes married Mary Ann Mullholland in Glasgow in 1878. His mother, Catherine attended the wedding but his father (John) was deceased at the time. Edward Hughes died in 1921 and his fathers occupation is shown as a Baker on the death certificate. I am guessing that John Hughes was born in the 1820's. Any information on John and Catherine Hughes M.S Donnelly would be greatly appreciated. Regards Derek
