FAIRHALL, Francis 1720-1801
I've been taking a look at the Fairhalls again and have found some new records for Francis Fairhall which suggest he was born earlier than 1720. These are baptism records for Jane, 1729, Mary, 1733, Elizabeth, 1734 and Barbara, 1737. All were at West Hoathly, and the mother in each case was Elizabeth. I think it is unlikely that there were two Francis Fairhalls of roughly the same age, living in the same place, although that's just my instinct. Francis didn't marry Sarah Smith until 1744 which would fit with him having a previous wife. If so, he must have been born at least 10 years' earlier, ie circa 1710. I have looked at all the public trees on Ancestry and all have Francis born Wivelsfield 1720, as does mine. I am now unsure of where this info came from as I do not have a record of it. If anyone here has any more info about Francis then please let me know.
red mail creasy
My ancestors lived in West Hoathly from 1650ish through til 1804. They were several Benjamin Creasys, one of whom married a Sarah Killik. The last male to be born in the village was Edward Creasy born late 18th century. He left to become a carman in London, Southwark, Brixton and married an Amelia Stone. He is connected to the Pollard family of sussex who were wheelwrights and carmen and ran a service between London, Brighton, Worthing and maybe Lewes in for much of the 19th century...Any info would be appreciated about either these particular families or about West Hoathly, or about carmen and transport in Sussex of this kind. The Creasy line settled in Brixton from 1850 on....
