William Henry Selby Hall
William Henry Selby Hall was born 13th September,1858 in Greenhithe, Kent, just across the Thames from Tilbury Docks, from where he would later sail regularly as a P&O Captain. He was the son of Walter Rowland Hall, RN Captain and his wife. William married Mary (?) and they had one son, Charles Ottley Hall in 1891, who died aged only 21 in 1912 and was buried in Portslade, East Sussex. Captain Hall was Captain of SS Persia which was torpedoed off Crete on 30th December 1915 with the loss of nearly 350 lives, including Captain Hall. I am researching Persia's history and the lives of passengers and crew aboard when she sank. Any information will be welcome including the smallest snippets!
