Does anyone conncected to Nutley remember Vera Lewis (b1923), my mother. She used to visit family in Nutley as a child. We also visited as a family in the 1950's. I have old photos (1930's) which are noted as being 'The Nutley Boys'. I remember on one visit going to a cricket match at Piltdown where the local team played the 'Stars' including Errol Flynn and Anthony Steele. Mum evacuated from S.E. London to Nutley briefly during the War. I am reaearching my family but cannot find the Nutley connection. Can anyone help please?

red mail Fox Mary Anne
Born at Nutley, 04/08/1861, and resided at Cackle Street. Married Nelson George TURNER, 21/07/1878. Lived at Rose Cottage from the date it was built (by Nelson Turner, who was a builder) 'till her death in 1946.
red mail Turner, Nelson George Et Al
There seem to have been two, unrelated, Turner families in Nutley in the late 1800's, early 1900's. To add to the confusion, both were in the building trade. My Turners' lived at Rose Cottage, opposite the church, and were involved in the builing firm Gillham & Turner, or Turner, Gillham & Turner. (The firm still survives, as 'Gillhams'). The other Turner's were involved with the Brickyard, and were unrelated. Nelson George Turner was born at Fletching, 19/04/1858. He married Mary AnneFOX at Nutley in 1878. By 1881 he was living at Carrs Lane, Maresfield, but was living in Nutley by 1901. He died at Plumstead in 1931.
