red mail KENWARD St. Thomas in the Cliffe Harness makers
I am trying to find the parents of Ann KENWARD born ca 1822 in Lewes I think - though a couple of census entries have her birthplace as, variously, Brighton and London. On her marriage certificate she states that her father was William KENWARD, harnessmaker and that she is of the Parish of St. Thomas in the Cliffe. Lots of William KENWARDS to choose from. In 1841 she is at 26 High St. Cliffe, with Jireh KENWARD, also a harness maker and son of William and Sarah (JOHNSON). Don't think he can be her brother though. Maybe her half-uncle or great uncle. She could also be the daughter of this William and his first wife Judith's (CAMFIELD) son, William, though he may have died as a child. I think the line of descent might be - Daniel and Mary (WOOD) - John and Elizabeth (KENT) - William and ? - William and ? - Ann the last two Williams are very tentative though. Or it could be Daniel and Mary - William and ? - William and Judith (CAMFIELD) - William and ? - Ann. Sorry this is probably as clear as mud. Help. Rosemary
