red mail Wilder Family
I am researching two possibly connected Wilder families. (i) Charles Wilder married Frances in 1818 in St Nicholas, Brighton (marriage on IGI, but can't be found through parish records). Had two children - Charlotte chr on 5/4/1820 and William chr on8/2/1824, both at St Nicholas. The family were living at Laurel Pl for both christenings. Charles was a Porter. Another child - Thomas born 1825/26 in Brighton (info from 1851 Census) baptism cannot be found in Brighton parish records. Charlotte married George White in Marylebone, London in 1848. William married Jane. (ii) Charles Frederick Wilder married Frances Davies in 1810 in Marylebone. They had a child, also named Charles Frederick in 1811 in Marylebone. Thomas mentioned in (i) was living with Charles Frederick jnr at 26 Harrow St, Marylebone in 1849. All the male members of the family seem to have been painters and decorators. Are Charles and Frances in (i) and Charles Frederick and Frances Davies in (ii), one and the same people? Is Thomas a brother, cousin, nephew of Charles Frederick jnr? If the two families are one and the same, it means that they lived in Marylebone, then moved to Brighton prior to 1820 and returned to Marylebone, where they remained, after 1826. Anyon...
