I am looking for information on William Lawton, who was a former governor of Wandsworth Prison. I am particularly interested to hear from anyone who knows anything about an alleged attack on William Lawton which took place on Wandsworth Common or a park in 1951. It is alleged that William Lawton was hanged from a tree, although the attack failed and Lawton survived. Any information that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Trying to find out some information on Wandsworth Common. My father moved there as a young boy about 1935/36 he remembers they lived in 'the flats near wandsworth common. He says everyone knew 'the flats'. Does anyone have any information on them or of the Pinnigers that lived there.

My Grandparents lived in Gorst Road,right opposite the Common in the 1940s and 50's.They were James and May Harding and they many children,Teresa and her husband Ted and daughter Tessy,and John and his wife Joyce and myself their child Elaine,lived with them.Their son James and his wife Ann and children John amd Anne lived in Bolingbroke Road.There was also Patricia and Frances,they also sadly lost three children when young Josephine,Sheila and Allan.If anyone can remember any of this please let me know.
