In 1911 census RG13 378 Walworth 1901 9 Runham St. There is a Mary Walker widow 65 and Alice Pike bootmaker b.1885 and Jennie Pike b.1887. Sister Anne Elizabeth b.1890 is in an orphanage in Kent (1901 St Joseph & St Anne orphanage Farn.Kent RG13 632 96 14). Believe Mary Walker was their grand-mother nee Mack and was actually born 1835 in Wapping. Alice Pike m.Fred Neary in 1906 and Jenny (Jane) m. Edward McCarthy. Would love to know when Mary Walker died. Any one out there know. I am a Walker descendant.

In august 1912 the boys of the 2nd walworth scouts set of for their summer camp' they left london by boat to go to leysdown on the isle of sheppey, 8 boys lost their lives when the boat overturned,there were a number of survivers, In august 2012 a rememberance service is planned at nunhead cemetery and at leysdown, so if one of your ancesters was involved please get in touch. this will be on the weekend 3/4 august 2012. malcolm

I am looking for information regarding a Cornelia Beckman Blake, who was born on 7th November 1834 and christened at St.Peter, Walworth on 9th November 1834. Cornelia's Father was Alfred Blake and her Mother was Cornelia Beckman Ford. Alfred Blake and his wife travelled extensively in Europe in the years 1843/44. Cornelia appeared to be left in the care of a wealthy family by the name of Peck who lived in Templecombe and also in Bath at various times.

His wife was called Jane .I would love to know when and how he came to Australia. I know nothing about him apart from his children ,a son called Frederick George and a daughter called Jane. Federick Jnr married Jane Fullarton Frew,her father.was James Frew born 18.5.1804 died 21.6.1878 and her mother was Jane Fullarton born 22.10.1809 died 31.5.1878. They were born and married in Glasgow and both died in Adelaide S.A. Frederick George jnr born 1814 died 1890 and Jane Fullarton Frew born 24.7.1809 died 11.11.1904 .Their children were, Frederick William, Robert Frew, Ethel Victoria Ellen,Jane Honoria, Isobella , I think there are 2 more but am not sure Frederick Somerville and Arthur Douglas. I am looking for any information and descendants of Edward Gilby (or later Gilly). Born in Walworth around 1833. He was probably an itinerant or travelling photographer who toured the fairs and showgrounds in a caravan, particularly South and East of London (Putney, Deptford, Greenwich also Cuckfield in Sussex). His son, Edward Alfred Gilly (born 1861 in Walworth) was probably a long-time friend and associate of my grandfather, William Bishop. In the 1901 census they are both to be found on the Fair Ground in Deptford High Street, living in adjacent dwellings. Edward Gilly junior's family at this time consisted of wife Kate (b.1866), sons Walter and Frederick, and daughters Kate, Ethel and Florence. Looking for any info on this girl. Born abt 1800 in Walworth. She was convicted at Surrey Quarter Sessions on 13th January 1818, was held at Horsemonger Lane Gaol, and was described as a servant of 18 years. She was convicted of larceny for receiving 3lb of Mutton Fat value 1/6d and transported to Australia for seven years. She never returned. I have a lot of info of her life here in Australia but am seeking info on her life, parents etc in England. She stated during a court case in 1834 thatshe had a cousin Willam Hardisty in prison in Australia.

The family ended up in Walworth/Newington/Elephant and Castle area of south London, but before that (back to 1800) were in the Waterloo area of London. This is a VERY rare name!
