red mail Angus Matheson
I am looking for any information regarding my Gt Grandfather Angus Matheson. He was born abt 1854. In the 1881 census his occupation was a tailor, he was unmarried and his birthplace was stated as Scotland. In the 1891 census he was a widower, had two children Duncan and Emma (my grandmother), his birthplace in this census was stated as Canada. On Emma's birth certificate her mother is Emma Matheson nee Brown. Angus died aged 44 and is buried in Mortlake. Unfortunately numerous searching for Angus and Emma's marriage certificate has come to nothing. I would be grateful if anyone can help.
red mail Austin John Payne
I have been researching my mother family of the Payne's who come from the Mortlake / Barnes area of Surrey. But I keep coming unstuck with my Great Grandfather Austin John Payne when he died. Austin was born in 1881 and married Emily Bird in 1902. Austin has been recorded at living with his father Maurice/Morris Payne and sister Anne in the 1901 census in Barnes but I'm unable to locate him in the 1911 census. His occupation in the 1901 census was Groom "domestic" His Wife Emily Payne is recorded with her 3 children in the 1911 census as visiting in Staines Middlesex. I have been unable to locate a death certificate for Austin John Payne. On my grandfather's marriage certificate in 1931 he is listed as deceased. There is another Austin John Payne born in 1902 to Austin who died in 1956 he is revered to as simply as John on the 1911 census. In checking world war 1 records there is only one entry that makes sense an A J Payne age unknown killed in October 1918, but I'm uncertain if this is the same man.
