!862 to 1874 Rector of Merton. His wife Abigail was the Advoson of Merton parish from 1874 to 1881.Abigail died in Brighton in 1882.I would be interested in any information. His wife may be related to the Kemp family.

We are looking for the family all born in MERTON of Mary Ann + James b c1807. Daughter Alice b 1849 was thought to have married William ROBERTS a coachman/Servant poss. b Newhaven. They had 2 sons William Edgar b.1877 + Thomas James Henry b Feb. 1880 both born in Paris France. Alice died there in June 1880. William's 2nd wife was Susannah BRYANT from New Shoreham. Alice's sister Mary Ann RENEUVE also died in France 1887. Any info. would be appreciated.

My grandmother (Caroline) (b 1889)was the only daughter of Joseph Henry Horskins (b 1860 in Merton). He married Caroline Dolphin in 1888. He had a sister called Maria and their mother was also Maria - their father was Henry. My grandmother lost contact with this side of the family soon after she was born and I am interested to know if anyone has any information about them or if there are any living family members.

I'm searching for a Joseph Mott who married Sarah. Their first child,I have found, was my grandfather X3 christened in 1806 at Merton Church. Joseph was a designer to a Calico Printer, who may have moved to the area for work as I can find no marriage for Joseph in Merton.

I am seeking information on the parents of John Burford (c1842-1899). He gave Merton as his birthplace in two out of the three censuses I have found him on. I can find no records of his birth. I cannot find him on either the 1851 or the 1861 census. His marriage certificate (1870 - Islington) shows his father as Thomas Burford, a printer. An Emily Burford was a witness. He moved to Leicester in 1871 and died there. Any information would be gratefully received!

Seeking information on the Hersey family. William Hersey born about 1832 in Cheshunt.In 1857 in Mitchum Surrey he married Susannah Berry born in Tooting, father George Berry a carpenter. In 1881 the family are living at Merton Bridge with their fivesons.They are also believed to have had two daughters possibly Mary and Hannah. William had various occupations including Silk Printer, Flock Mill Foreman and Coppersmith. He died in Wimbledon in 1893 and occupation then was given as Stationary Engine Driver. His son Charles my grandfather, married Kate Brown and lived in Wimbledon.
