A family bible which has descended within the family suggests that either or both of them may have ancestry in Lingfield (there is an unfortunate gap between a series of Martin, Stanford and Messenger entries in the mid 1700s and the marriage in Lambeth which to date I have been unable to bridge)

James and Stephen Dean are recorded as being the base born twin sons of Jane Deane in the Parish Registers of St Peter & Paul, Lingfield in October 1804. James was my great, great, great grandfather. Help!!!! Is thar anyone out there in Lingfield/Dormansland who knows if Sue Hayes-Sadler is still alive or not.She used to worship at the R/C church, many moons ago. If you are a young person, plz ask yer parents/rellies if they know of her whereabouts now. I belive that they married, date unknown Also the location of Geoff Elphick!! They used to run the riding school at the top of Mutton Hill in Dormansland, Once again plz ask yer eldery rellies, and see if they know anything. I moved away in 1971, and thu several moves , have lost contact. I myself worked at the stables in the late 1960's. Any infomation gratefully recieved Perhaps you are an ex convent girl who went there at w/ends at that time. :-)))

i am looking for any info on the Malyan family. My gt gt grandfather was Charles Malyan. His wife Naomi Wickham. They are listed on the 1881 census as living in Prinkham cottages Lingfield. Their children were Thomas, Ernest (my gt grandfather) Caleb, rosamond, joseph. I believe that Charles was born in Hever. I know he was a farmer/stockman. Jones Family
I am interested in the Jones family, headed by Frederick Jones, wife Sarah Ann, who lived in Arden Run, Lingfield from the mid 1800's. Researching information on my family who lived in Lingfield Lodge Farm from 1850's to 1902. Particularly Thomas and Mary. The earliest info Thomas Shorter b 1812 Sussex possibly Heathfield but cannot find a record of his birth there. He married Mary (Ne Nightingale) b1820 Leigh Kent, possibly her second marriage they had 1 child Alfred James b 1859. He married Minnie Carstairs Noble b Edinburgh 1856, they had 5 children Thomas, Eva, Alfred Noble (my grandfather) Frederick and Connie. All the family left Linfield Lodge by 1903 re Kellys directory. Thomas and Mary buried in Lingfield Church?
