I am looking for any information about the FARNDEN's that lived in Godalming. Thomas b abt 1781 married Elizabeth ?. Also John Farnden b abt 1798, , he married Jane LEGG 12 Jume 1820. In the 1841 Engand Census Jane was living at 101 High St. Godalming with Thomas and Mary FARNDEN. John and Jane had two children also named John and Jane. John b 12 May 1821 and Jane b abt 1823. Jane married Samuel RICHARDSON on 4 Aug 1845 at St Mary at Lambeth, before migrating to Australia. John married Sarah PARTRIDGE 12 Nov 1857 in South Australia, Australia.I know that John FARNDEN didn't migrant straight to South Australia.I think he traveled with Jane and Samuel to Victoria, Australia in the early 1850's. If anyone has any more information about my ancestors I would be most greatful.

Information please on the Edith Campbell who appears in the 1871 census staying alone at the Kings Arms Hotel, 105 High Street, Godalming. She is described as a "lady" and was aged 22, married, and born in St Agnes, Cornwall. Godalming is 10 miles from Aldershot: was her husband an army officer? Is she the Edith Perry who was in Ilfracombe in 1861? I am trying to establish whether she was the Alice Edith Campbell who was married in Bombay 2 August 1879 to Surgeon Patrick Joseph O'Sullivan of the Army Medical Service; if so, I should be interested in knowing more.

I am trying to trace the parents of George Smithers who was born possibly abt. 1843 in Godalming, and who married Emma Crews in 1863. His father is shown on his marriage certificate as James Smithers, Groom. I am a direct descendant of Henry Roker, b. abt. 1565 in Godalming. He married Johane Wilson, b. 1564 in Godalming. I'm looking for any information on their ancestry. I also need Henry's son John Roker,s wife. John Roker was b. 1589 in Godalming, but all of his children were born in Wonersh, Surrey. This John Roker had a son John, b. 1617 in Wonersh, d. 1703 in Witley, Surrey. He married Mary Matchwicke on Jun 29, 1665 in witley. She was b. 1632 in Thursley, Surrey, the daughter of Thomas Matchwicke and Joan. I need any further info on the Matchwicke family. This John Roker had a son, Thomas Roker who married Catherine Cheeseman. Thomas was b. 1666 in Witley, Surrey and d. Nov 16, 1747 in Shackleford, Godalming, Surrey. I need any info on Catherine Cheeseman and her family. Thomas Roker had a son, Henry, b. 1701 in Whitley, Surrey, d. 1774 in Godalming. On Jan 08, 1730/31, he married Dorothy Poulter, b. 1699 in Guilford?, Surrey. She was the daughter of William Poulter and Ann Jolliffe. I need this extended family as well. Finally, Henry Roker had a son, Thomas Roker, titled The Honorable Thomas Roker. He was an attorney for the Crown sent to Philadelpha in the mid 1700's and then when accused of treason to America was removed to St. Augustine in Spanish Florida. After the American Revolution, Thomas was granted 300 acres on Long Island, in the Bahamas. Thomas was b. Dec. 1737 in Peper Harrow, Surrey, and d. Oct 5, 1797 in Long Island, New Providence, now Commonwealth of the Bahamas. He was married to Susannah (or Suzanna) Lake of Scotland, and to Mary Keen of New Jersey in the colonies. An English naval officer, he was commander of various vessels 1697-1728, and was promoted to Admiral of the White in 1743.He perished in the wreck of - The Victory - in the English Channel on the night of the 4th October 1744.
