Richard WATKINS. master mariner, b abt. 1788, married Jane MACORD, b 1797, in 1819 at St Giles Cripplegate. Known children were Jane (b abt. 1821), Ann(e) (b abt. 1826), Helen (b abt. 1828) and John (b abt. 1832). Family moved from New Church Street, Bermondsey to 63 Milton Road, Milton-next-Gravesend, Kent, between 1841 and 1851 censuses. Helen did not marry and remained at home, but the other three are proving elusive; does anyone have info. about marriages etc.? There may be some connection with Liverpool.

I'm having trouble tracing my GG father FREDERICK HARVEY and his wife EMILY (nee BROWN). The 1891 and 1901 census' show Emily (born Holborn abt. 1856) living in Newington, London, with her children, but there is no mention of Frederick. Their children included Alfred, Louisa, Charles (my Grandfather), Ethel Grace, Clara Emily, Winifred and Amelia. Charles married Mary Ann Charlotte NOURSE on 25th Dec. 1911. Frederick was an Upholsterer and alive at the time of Charles' wedding. Charles joined the Royal Field Artillery and was killed in Ypres in Dec. 1915. Any information concerning this family would be appreciated.

I am seeking information on Alfred Chapman of Bermondsey, born in circa 1840, the son of a Berkshire bootmaker. Mr Chapman was a Parliamentary representative for the Ancient Order of Foresters and a very good friend of my G G Grandfather, Edward Victor Robbins. He read the eulogy for Edward at the Ancient Order of Foresters' memorial service at Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey and is buried there himself. I would be very interested to hear from any descendants of Alfred Chapman and learn more about him... and of course to share the information which I have. Thank you.

John Tarrant married Mary Ann Gillam on 11 March 1816 at St Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey. Their first child, Mary Ann was baptised at St Mary Lambeth but abode is shown as Holborn. The next four children including my ancestor Thomas Charles were baptised either at St Andrew's Holborn or St Leonards Shoreditch. Trying to locate John and Mary Ann's baptism or place of origin. Neither appear on any census.

My great grandfather William C Donald was born in Bermondsey in 1866 , to William Donald and Rebecca Collis. William Donald was born in Scotland in 1833 and became a railwayman in Bermondsey. I have been unable to trace him back to anywhere in Scotland - all I now is that his father was named Thomas - and would like to learn more. His son William carried on in the railways and lived at Strand-on-the -Green, Chiswick where he was a signalman. He married Augusta Emma Leaver and had children Marion ( my grandmother) , Arthur, William, Archbald, Edwrad and Alice.

We have been trying for a long time to trace ( unsucessfully)Joseph Palmer He was named in 1860 as the father of my husbands Grandfather Alfred, his wife being Ann Palmer formerly Woodcock. Birth certificate shows the area to be Lambeth. We have never found their marriage certificate so have concluded they may not have married. Josephs occupation was shown as a Private in the Scotch Fusiliers. All census from 1861 on shows Alfred with the Woodcock family but no sign of Joseph. In later life Alfred reverts to using the name Woodcock. If anyone recognises this name we would love to hear from them

I believe my great grandfather was born in Ipswitch Suffolk in 1876 but there are two possibilities there so I do not know how to proceed.
My Gt Gt Grandfather was John Walls born c.1801 He married Elizabeth Wyatt in 1823 and they had 3 children - John born 1827 Hannah born 1840 and Sarah born 1847. John Walls Snr was a shipwright and he does not appear on any of the census with the rest of the family. On the 1860 census Elizabeth is shown as widowed. I would welcome any information on this family.

I would love to trace either of the sons of Fred Webber, born in Bermondsey London in 1932 or indeed any other member of the family. Like most of our family Fred suffered with a bad heart so I would imagine he has passed on now. He had two sons however who would be in their early 50s now. Fred emigrated to Australia then returned to England and moved to Bootle Liverpool. He worked in the Docks as a Stevador I believe.I visited him and his sons there once as a child of about 10 but when Dad died he took all the Webber family address's with him! Fred had a half brother, David who emigrated to Canada and I believe he was a pilot. Also a sister,Eva. My Dads name was Edward Webber.

His older brother, James, married Ellen ? and at least one child was born,Leonard James,in 1899. His sister, Esther, married George Colwell in 1897. There were two children, at least,Pretoria Florence and Annie born 1900 and 1901 respectively. A younger brother, Edgar Thomas, travelled to the United States of America.

Seeking information about ancestors and English descendants of William WARDLE, husband of Mary Ann (surname unk), father of Henry William, Thomas Edward John and Richard Charles WARDLE. 1841 Census living at Crosby Place, St Mary Magdalen Parish, Bermonsey, Surrey. 1851 It appears William was a widower in the St Mary Magdalen Workhouse in Bermondsey. Two of his sons (Henry William and Thomas Edward John) became mariners and each eventually settled in Australia - Thomas in Western Australia and Henry in Victoria). The third son, Richard Charles WARDLE (b 1840) remained in Surrey, married Emma (surname unk) and they had seven children: Jennette, Richard, Arthur, Jessica, Albert, Ada and Louisa. Happy to share information about Australian descendants of Thomas and Henry.
