Their son, HORACE AUGUSTUS b. 1852 is sighted in the 1881 census living in BATTERSEA, SURREY as a lodger. He m. EMILY REES in 1882 and had several children, one of whom was my maternal grandmother CLARA FLORENCE b. 1883. Clara m. BERTIE ROWLERSON in 1904 and had 11 children. The ended their days in TOOTING, LONDON.

Holloway family
I'm seeking info. on a family of Holloways who lived in Battersea from 1854 onwards. A William Holloway married Mary Edwards (from Chilvers in Warwickshire. They had 6 children: Robert Edwards Holloway who became a highly respected Newfoundland photographer and scientist, Catherine, Mary, Sarah, Emily and George (b.1863?). The first 3 were born in Barton on Humber and the last 3 in Battersea.

My great grandfather, Thomas Jones,(who died approx 1895) was a leading figure in the Battersea Park (freemasons'??)Lodge. He died in a freak accident with a young child relative and given a large, formal funeral. The funeral procession went through the streets of Mitcham and was attended by many local dignitaries. Has anyone links to this man, or further information on the Battersea Park Lodge, the funeral, the family etc?

My Great Great Grandmother was a Creamer-Macarty. She was born in 12 Aug 1866 in Battersea and was the daughter of George Creamer-Macarty and Eleanor Mary Ward who married 20 Sep 1865 Battersea. I have quite a bit on my line of Creamer-Macartys - though they didn't make it easy for us to trace!!! They are sometimes listed as Macarty, others as Creamer!!!! I am very interested to hear from anyone else with a Creamer-Macarty connection!

Lavinia's parents were Emanuel Allwood and Mary Ann Sullivan who married 1854 at Chelsea. Emanuel was a plasterer. William and Lavinia's children were William Emanuel b 1878 Battersea, Kate Elizabeth b 1879, Annie b 1882 and d 1883.They went to Queensland,Australia in 1883. Two children born in Townsville Queensland.

I am trying to find out information on a Boxer called either the Winslow boy or the boy Winslow. I had managed to find Florence Henrietta Jacobs parents, John Jacobs & Olivia Winslow,Living, according to Florence's birth certificate at 11 Conroy StLambeth. I then looked for their marriage, the only marriage I could find was a John Jacobs married to Rebekah Winslow. Which must be the correct one, married at Whitechapel Sept quarter of 1883. Cannot find Olivia on the 1891 Census or her family,which must I hope will lead me to the Winslow boy. Maybe Olivia & Rebekah were the same person?

Does anyone have information about the Maynards in the 1881 census they lived in Woodgate Street (39) the 1891 in Savona Street (9) and the 1901 Nine Elms Lane (65) I have managed to go back to the 1837 but am stuck due to the fact that before 1837Battersea was not under Surrey which is the census county for 1837 - 1901 has anyone any ideas how I can go back further or what the parish came under before 1837 any help gratefully received. trying to find any info on my family. My great grandfather's name was Keith Battersea he fought in ww1 nad had abrother who also was inww1. the brother was sent to Africa and never came back. Keith had 2 boys and a girl. My grandfather was John Battersea he moved to Canada in the 60's he had 2 girls and a boy. My dad is Clive Battersea. I have a Sarah Ann Derrett with very little detail I am afraid. She gave birth to an illegitimate boy named Herbert Augustus Derrett on 16 Dec 1879 in the Union Infirmary Battersea. On Herbert's birth certificate the father's name is left blank and his mother was listed with the maiden name of Derrett, but on Herbert's marriage certificate he has named his father as Herbert Wakefield Derrett deceased. On the birth certificate Sarah has given her own residence also as the Union Infirmary and heroccupation is listed as Ironer. Sarah married an Isaac Abrahmas in 1883 in Chelsea, London. My problem is that I can't move on until I know more about Sarah and who this Herbert Wakefield was, did he exist or did Herbert Derrett make up a name for his marriage certificate to save himself the embarresment of admitting he was illegitimate? Im looking for information on my great great grandparents on my father's side; Richard Rose Ames and Emma Ames (parents of John Richard and Dorothy Ames) who lived at 129 Maysoule Road in 1901. ALSO the MOTT family who lived in two properties in Green Lane Battersea - Henry and Bessie Mott senior at no.2 and Henry and Elizabeth Mott at no.10 with their childen Katey Mott (future wife of John Richard Ames), Emily Mott, Frank Mott, William Mott, Frederick Mott, Alfred Mott (a labourer on a barge) George Mott (worked at Price's Candle factory, Battersea) and Louise Messenger (nee Mott) who was a widow in 1901 and her son George Messenger who was born in 1900. I believe Elizabeth Mott to be of the Beale family who lived at The Field, Princeof Wales Rd, Battersea. The Beales were headed up by Frederick and Elizabeth, aged 52 and 43 in 1901. ALSO if anyone can remember the Liberal Club at 10 Green Lane (more than likely now long gone) please get in touch as this was next door to the Mott's house. If anyone is looking for info on Green Street, I have the names ages and occupations of the people who lived in nos. 2, 6, 8, 10, 12 and no.14. The street was built in 1881 but I presume was bombed or cleared in the 20thC.

My great grandfather Arnold Higginbottom ran a coal business in Lambeth then Battersea from the late 1870Õs, which was continued by son Arnold into the second half of the twentieth century. Arnold was born in Manchester and became a colliery engineer before moving south to marry Julia Vinden in 1876. Apart from Arnold they had two other children William and Florence (my grandmother). ArnoldÕs sister married JuliaÕs brother John and settled in Lambeth.

My great grandfather Richard Lock was a signalman employed by the London Brighton & South Coast Railway. Richard and his wife Margaret (Morden) produced five children Alexander, Frederick, Albert, Winifred and Margaret. I am descended from Alexander, but I have no contact with anyone descended from the other four children. I know that Frederick married Lily Addison, but I have not traced marriages for the other three.

His father wasCyril Page, (high class)hairdresser in Wandsworth, possibly from Eastbourne, he was married to May Eaton from Wimblington.
