My last link to Suffolk was John Hearn (born 1831) who moved to Yorkshire during the 1850's. He was an agricultural labourer and life was tough on Agri Labourers in Suffolk at that time.

I am trying to find the parents or siblings of the first William Henry Broom, born in Stowmarket, Suffolk in 1839. There is another William Henry Broom born 1833 also from Stowmarket I think which makes it confusing. They both joined the army I think, more confusion still. William Henry Broom born 1839, married Eliza in 1892 (Eliza born 1845,surname unknown as yet) in Newry,Ireland they had a son (only?) also named William Henry Broom born 1871.

George was a long serving soldier in the 25th Regiment Kings Own Borderers, later KOSB.He married Mary Duffy, a daughter of a fellow soldier, in India,in 1875, & completed his service in 1882 in Fermoy Ireland.Where did they go from there? I am looking for a William Smith who states he was born in Stowmarket on the 1861 Census but on the 1851 Census says he was born in Berry(Bury)St Edmunds. He was born in 1830. On his marriage certificate his father is a Butcher (also called William)and he is a Brazier on both his marriage certificate and on the birth certificate of his daughtee Sarah, my Great Grandmother. My ggg-grandfather was John Garrard b. abt. 1794/5 in Stowmarket. He married Amy Tricker (b. about 1799/1800 also in Stowmarket) in Stowmarket on March 13, 1822. I am researching the Fisk family. Parents James and Alice Hannah (nee Watling). Children Robert, Bessie, Percy, Caroline, Frederick, Jack and Wilfred and born Stowmarket between 1873 and 1892.
