I am researching William York(e) who was my 4 x Gt Grandfather. His wife was Ann and/or Hannah and he had several children: Thomas b1783 who died 1784; Sophia b1785, James b1787, Elizabeth b1789, Thomas b1792 (my 3 x Gt Grandfather), Abraham b1793 who died in 1825; and Charles b1798. William had the Bull Inn in Long Melford for a while in the 1780s but went bankrupt and died in the Paupers Hospital in 1829, his wife having died there two years earlier. He joined the 7th Regiment of Foot in 1799, aged 30, stating he was born in Melford near the town of Sudbury. He lived in the Kingston upon Thames area of Surrey after his discharge in 1822.. Can anyone confirm/ refute the parents of John Chrysall/ Crissell born about 1723. We think they are John Chrysall/ Crissell born about 1704 in LONG MELFORD, and ELIZABETH HILLS. These two married in 1722 so dates fit, but any confirmation would be great! Also looking for ELIZABETH HILLS birthplace and ancestors.
