red mail Levett/Lovett in Aldeburgh
I am convinced that the two names above have a common route before 1723. I have a Will of John Levett of Rendlesham, originally bn in Pettistree in which he leaves an amount of money to John Levett s/o William Levett late of Aldeburgh. Has anyone done any in depth research on this family in Aldeburgh so we can compare research. I have taken the Levetts of Pettistree back to 1480 but would love to find the connection to the Aldeburgh line if there is one?I believe the name got changed from Levett to Lovett at the beginning of the 19th century?

I am looking for any trace of these girls and their parents, George RAYNOR, a school teacher who was born in Romford, Essex, and their mother, who was Mary Maria RAYNOR nee WALTER b.c1836 Littleton Drew, Wiltshire. The family were living in 15 Railway Terrace, West Ham in the 1861 Census. They appear to have moved to Gosport where Louisa was born in 1860, Mary was born in 1868 at most likely at Aldeburgh. There is no sign of them in the 1871 Census apart from Louisa who appears to been at a Boarding School in Saxmundham. The girls Mother Mary Maria died in Aldeburgh and was buried there on the 23 Feb. 1878. The two girls were sent to New Zealand, to live with Mary Maria's sister, Louisa Jane FIELD nee WALTER. I have been unable to find when they left or when they arrived in New Zealand. but Minnie was at School in New Zealand in the 1880's. Both girls eventually married FIELD Cousins. George RAYNOR eventually remarried, still a school teacher and living in the Hammersmith area of London. I am interested in anything to do with this family, the name is occasionally spelt RAYNER.

red mail Lord Family
My wife's G G Grandmother was Mary Ann Lord. She was born in Aldeburgh in 1827, and married Henry Chapling Mayston in Leiston on 17 February 1850. In 1841 she was living in Back Street with her mother Betsey (a schoolmistress), her brothers Thomas(23) and Richard(10) and her sister Jane(16). In 1851 the family is listed as Betsey(60),Elizabeth(29-but not present in 1841) and George Thomas Lord(2)probably the son of Elizabeth. Other records show that her mother's full name was Elizabeth Ellen and that her father was Robert Lord. As he does not appear on either the 1841 or 1851 Census return was he a mariner at sea each time, or had he died pre-1841? We believe that Back Street is now Crabbe Street - but did it also take in King Street? Any information to help us expand our records would be greatly appreciated.
