red mail Seeking information on family of James GILLIES & Marion GARROW
James GILLIES was born 20 Jul 1807 and Bandeath and christened 9 Aug St Ninians. His parents were John Gillies & Janet Campell who married 1792 at Lecropt, Perth. James, married Marion Garrow (born 1803 Barony, Lanarkshire). James appears on the 1841 & 1851 census as a sawer residing Bannockburn. Marion appears to have died between the 1841 and 1851 census. James and Marion had four children James Brown Gillies born 1835, William born 1839, Andrew born 1840 and Helen born abt. 1843. James and his children James Brown, Andrew and Helen migrated to Tasmania, Australia in 1855. William did not emigrate with his family and I can find no further record for him after the 1851 census when he was aged 12 and working as a draw boy making carpets as was his brother James Brown. Any information on any of the above would be much appreciated.
