Emma Smith of Wednesbury
Trying to connect with anyone knowing of an Emma Smith on their tree. Information is that she was born c. 1861 Wednesbury which has tallied with all census after her marriage to George Smith of Wolverhampton. By error on the 1911 census she entered that she had been married 30 years suggesting that she married c. 1881. First child Alfred born Dec qtr1881 in Sheffield. Husband George died in Sheffield c. 1908. She died in Huddersfield not sure of death date. She had several children all born in Sheffield and at least two birth certificates confirm her former name as Smith. One possibility is the daughter of a Jane Hall and William Smith of Wednesbury but unable to confirm. Unable to find on 1871 and 1881 census

I am researching my Emery family. Amelia Emery, born 1872 in Wednesbury, married Frank Arthur Chase in London in 1889. Amelia was a daughter of William Howard Emery and Elizabeth Ball. They had 12 children that I have found - Leonard 1851, Sarah 1853, Philip 1854, Betsey 1858, Charlotte (possibly) 1860, David William 1862, Phoebe 1867, James 1868, Mary Ann 1870, Amelia 1872, Clara 1875, Fanny 1877. red mail Guerry/Guery/Geary/Gery
I have a Esther Guery/Geary who lived in Wednesbury until her death in 1877. I think her husband was John Geary etc who died in 1852. This Guery family may have came from Ireland and been French Huguenot originally. A Pierre Guerry fled fom France to Ireland to South Carolina in the USA. Baird also mentioned "The widow Guerry, with her two sons, her son-in-law, and two small children. Year of departure, 1681. Place of retreat, Baston. Property left, none." So this could have been Pierre and a brother who left France in 1681. If it is the brother stayed behind in Ireland. Does anybody know ?

Does anybody please have any information on the Jevon family, originally from Staffordshire, later in the Mile End Old Town area of London. Samuel Jordan Jevon was born in 1842 in Whitechapel, I believe his parents were Samuel Jevon C1819 and Hannah C1820 from Wednesbury and West Bromwich respectively. I have details of a Titus Jevon born C1815, died 1844 aged 29, buried Bow Cemetery. I think this may be Samuel's brother as they were all in the gun making industry and the dates fit and a Samuel Jevon of Greenwood Street, Mile End, Stepney paid for Titus' burial plot three days before his funeral. Jevons married into the Lucas family, which is where my interest comes in but any information to throw light on this one would be gratefully received.

I am trying to trace the decendants of the LLOYD/EAGLES families. On the 1881 Census I have found : Enoch & Mary Lloyd (nee Eagles),living with their children Benjamin 8, John 6, Charles 3 and Mary's two brothers Edward Eagles 17 and William Eagles 18, all living at 13 Cobden Street, Wednesbury. Enoch was working as a Puddler. Enoch was my husband's Great Grandfather. Also on the 1881 Census I found Mary's parents, Charles & Mary Eagles and their 2 other children living in the Union Workhouse, Hallam St. West Bromwich. Charles was also a Puddler, but very sadly it looked as if they had gone into the Workhouse as they had no home.Their children were Amy 7 and Charles 1. Very sadly little Charles died a few weeks after the census was taken, and Mary died a couple of years later. Both died in the Workhouse, and like all residents would have been buried in a Paupers Grave in West Bromwich. There were up to 8 people in these Pauper Graves with no headstones. I have found Amy on the 1891 Census working as General Domestic Servant at the Crown Inn in Albert Street, Wednesbury. I can't find her on the 1901 Censu as she probably married. Hope someone out there may know something of these 2 familes. Rita

Arm- Cook
I am tracing my Family Tree and researching my mother's family. I have discovered that my Grandmother Mary Jane, was born out of wedlock. She was born on the 15th December, 1879 and her mothers name was Mary Arm, but there was no father listed. However, on Mary Jane's marriage certificate of 1899 she names her father as being John Cook. I think I have traced John on the 1881 Census, as his addres is only a couple of streets away from where Mary Arm lived, and he is the only John Cook listed in the area, plus he is the right age. His mother was Selena Cook a widow, aged 48 years. Her childen were listed as: John aged 25 - Coal Miner. Samuel aged 17 - Coal Miner Walter Cook - Laborer. Harriett aged 11 - scholar. George aged 6 - scholar. Hoping someone may be able to help me piece a bit more of my Family Tree 'jigsaw' together.
