red mail HALL, JONES, STEVENS family(s)
My GG grandparents were Samuel and Annie Hall who were farmers (poss.address - Norncoth(?)) within parish of Abdon at Stoke St.Milburyne, Shrophire. I have a copy of the baptism cert. for their son John Hall who was baptized on 1 July 1837, cert. is signed by 'H.Wilson Rector of Abdon'. We know John was married twice - he had 2 children to his first wife (Samuel and Sara). After the death of his 1st wife he married Eliza Jones on 11 August 1868 at St.Johns Church, The Pleck, Walsall. They had a further 7 children one of which was my grandmother Emma. By the time Emma was born (1883)they were living in Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire (now Cumbria). Emma married Charles Henry Stevens and had 4 children Maude, Elsie, Gladys and Charles Henry (Jr) - who was my Dad. They lived in St.Lukes Street most of their married lives. Does anyone have any common ancestors? Would love to hear anything which could be relevant. I am now living in Australia and would dearly love to pass on family history to my own grandchildren. Joan
red mail Staple, Staples, Walsall, and Somerset
Looking for information about the Staples families in Walsall. 1881 Census shows a number of families, in each case the Head was born in Taunton Somerset. The family head is Elijah STAPLE / Elisha STAPLES who had moved to Walsall from Somerset and was widowed by 1861. He remarried and started a second family, wife's name Charlotte PETERS. She was a widow, maiden name TRUMP. Other censuses give Elijah's birthplace as Bickenall, Somerset. Several STAPLES families in Walsall in 1881 are the sons of Elijah with their families; however there are STAPLES families in other censuses where definite links have not yet been made. In 1851 John and Maria STAPLES are listed in Walsall, both born 'Bicknill' Somerset. In 1851 Elijah and family were still in Somerset and Elijah's birthplace is recorded as Bickenhall. Could John be Elijah's brother? My connection is to Thomas son of Elijah STAPLE and Sarah.

red mail Charlotte Sophia Gough And Abraham Foster
I'm looking for verification that a Charlotte Sophia Gough married an Abraham Foster circa 1890. Charlotte was born in the Walsall district in the 1st qtr 1870and Abraham was born in Darlaston in 1868/69. I know for a fact that Abraham Foster marrieda Charlotte Sophia but I am trying to get a fix on her maiden name and the Gough that I have come up with on FreeBMD seems to be the best bet. I can't, however, find registration of a marriage on BMD. At some point both Charlotte and Abraham moved to Leicester where they both died during the 2nd World War. Would anyone be able to confirm the maiden name of the Charlotte who married Abraham or indeed have any info on the Charlotte Sophia who was born in 1870 which would confirm one way or the other who she married? Thanks
