red mail Florence Edith Leake (nee Sunter)
My maternal Grandmother Florence (Florry) Annie Brown, nee Sunter b 1889,told me many times, of her being one of 12 siblings who lived,(6 male, 6 female) and of the 'losing' of 2 siblings who died whilst she was in her infant years, which would of made her one of 14. Whilst searching archive material of this generation, I found 3 more 'Sunters'; Frank Sunter b 1880,(Frank died in Q1 1883 aged only 3 years), Walter Sunter, who was also born 1893, and died 1894. But I unearthed 'Number 15', Florence Edith (Edie) Sunter. Edith who was also born in Q1 of 1893 (and therefore been Walters' living twin), was found to have been adopted(or I suspect, given away!!). This 'adoption' was confimed by the 1901 Census. She was known as Edie Sunter in 1901 Census entry, and it stated that she was living with her adopted parents, Charles T & Mary Ann Turk from Gloucestershire (both aged 65), and their daughter Caroline Coldicott (aged 38). (Carolines Daughter, Fanny, also lived with them, aged 18). This families address (in 1901) was 2, Barley Field Row,(in St Matthews Parish) Walsall. A Marriage which was Registered in BMDs in Walsall, was found for a Florence E Sunter to a Joseph Leake, June 1922, in Vol 6b 1494. Any information? Please make contact if you have.

red mail Doris Lavinia Hill (Hewitt ) 1898
I am trying to find some information in relation to my Great Grandmother Doris Lavinia Hill. She was born in April 1898 (or so we are lead to believe) but are unsure as to where. She live in Walsall as a young girl in Green Lane and Farringdon Street and then when she got married, she moved to Coppice Road, Walsall Wood. She Married Sidney Charles Hewitt at St Johns Church Walsall Wood on 14 April 1917 aged 19. I have obtained the Marriage Certificate and it tells me that her father was Thomas Hill but it gives me the address of Coppice Road as her last residence. I am also aware that she moved to Brownhills West but came back to Walsall Wood at a later date. She had four sons, Sidney, Frank, Ronald and Denis. She died on 5 July 1981 and was buried in Walsall Wood. What I am trying to find out is where she was born and what was the name of her mother and her brothers and sisters. I have tried to obtain a birth certificate for her but it appears that there is no Doris Lavinia Hill listed with that date of birth. Please help me locate the details of my Great great Grandmother. red mail Bentleys and Whitehouses in Walsall in 1861 to 1870s.
My 2x gt grandmother Sarah Whitehouse was married at St Matthew's Walsall in 1874 to Joseph Kirby. In 1861, she was living with her mother Elizabeth, and several siblings at the house of a Joseph Bentley in Short Acre. The entry is very strange for a number of reasons in that census. Mother and children are given as grandsons and granddaughters of Joseph and Eliza, this is not true, obviously. it is possible that the children were the illegitimate children of John Bentley, who may have been related to Joseph. I am seeking more information about Joseph who does not appear in any other census, that I can find. I think that they were all travellers.
