red mail Harrison family of Milton
Researching Sarah Harrison born Milton Staffs 1861 to parents George Harrison (Publican / Licensed Victualler) and Eliza (Wilkinson). Bit of a mystery how Sarah ended up in St Helens, Lancashire in 1883 marrying Josiah Woods. Sarah's children did holiday in Staffs on a farm and that is all I know!
red mail Leigh
My grandfather believed that my gt gt gt grandfather John LEIGH was born in Milton, Staffs, about 1792. He also believed that John was a brother of the Rev. Samuel LEIGH, the first Wesleyan Methodist missionary to Australia and New Zealand. According to most standard references, Rev. Samuel LEIGH was born in Milton in 1785. I have been unable to prove this belief of my grandfather, that is that Rev. Samuel had a brother John. Any help would be appreciated. By the way, my gt gt gt grandfather John emigrated to Germany about 1830 to join the pottery works of Nicolas Villeroy in Vaudrevange (now Wallerfangen) in the Saarland. In 1836, Villeroy combined with Boch to form Villeroy and Boch which still exists today.
