Chivers - near Bath
I am trying to trace and locate the origins of a John Chivers a cordwainer / shoemaker working in Birmingham, born about 1802/3. In the 1851 census he gives a birthplace in Somerset county that looks like Higleton, Flighton or Highston - very difficult to read. In 1861 he gives his birthplace as Bristol, Bath. I am guessing that the unidentifiable village is somewhere in the area of Bath. Has anyone any suggestions? His wife was Charlotte, born in Tardebigge, Redditch, Warwickshire, so I am guessing he moved to Birmingham before marriage.

ADAMS, MARSH, CALLAWAY,CROMWELL - Various Locations
I have been searching for information concerning my ancestors, Edward ADAMS and Sally MARSH. They were married in 1793 at Hinton Martell, Dorset. I am a descendant of their daughter, Frances MARSH ADAMS. She was born at Walcot, Bath, and baptized in 1795 at St. Swithin, Walcot. Sally MARSH ADAMS died several months after giving birth to Frances and is buried in Weston, Bath. I cannot prove any remarriage or death for Edward ADAMS. What happened to Frances after her mother's death until her marriage to William CALLAWAY at Lyme Regis, Dorset, in 1819? Where was Edward ADAMS born? Today, I believe I have found further information concerning the parents of Sally MARSH ADAMS. I have found the baptism of Sally MARSH in 1769 at Glastonbury, Somerset. Her parents were listed as Thomas MARSH and Frances CROMWELL. They were married at St. Leonard's, Rodney Stoke in 1757. Thomas' home parish was listed St. John's, Glastonbury. Can anyone tell me more about these families?

I do not know where in Somersetshire they were married. I hope to find anyone out there who has any information on the Broome lineage of Thomas E. Broome.
red mail Goopy, Guppy - Somerset
I am searching for any information on parents of John GUPPY (Cope) born in Calcutta in 1831. He migrated to Australia and died in Brisbane. He married Catherine McCauley (Irish) and there are many Goopy descendants in Australia. We don't know when he came here or when his name was changed to Goopy. There is no record of his parents, other than a note mentioning Cope. Was this a mis pronunciation when birth was registered and name became Guppy then Goopy? Is it possible his father was in the British Army, mother Indian? We do know that there were/are a large number of Guppys in Somerset, also in Canada. If this story seems familiar to anyone, I could really do with your help.
