red mail The Crown Inn, Regil
Can anyone help me to answer a question please. Back in the 1980 my now husband and I frequented the Crown Inn in at Regil, where the then landlord had a dog called Fred. He spent his evenings wandering around the pub hoping for some kind person to give him tidbits of food. This was back in the day that 'basket' meals were the order of the day. Fred's preferred choice was scampi and could tell the difference between a nugget of scampi and a chip from many feet away, to the point that if you threw him a chip he would let it drop to the floor without even smelling it, scampi however would be caught in the air. My question is, what breed of dog was Fred. Sorry to be so long winded about this but my husband is adamant that he was one breed but I think he was another. If anyone could help to put this argument to bed I would be eternally grateful. We now live in the area and once again visit the Crown quite regularly, We have asked several people if they remember but have not been able to get a definite answer. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

red mail Winford - NURSE, Henry
I'm looking for information about the parents of Henry NURSE who was born ca. 1826. His father was called Joseph. In the 1861 census Henry's birth place is listed as Winford. He was married to Isabella RICH at that time and they had 3 children: Alfred (15), Mary (11) and George (6). In the 1881 census his birth place is given as Barrow Common, in the 1871 census as Long Ashton and in the 1851 census as Bedminster. All pretty much the same area, but it would be nice to know exactly where he was born and his mother's name.
