red mail CRISP
In 1841 Census, John CRISP, 55, butcher, lived at "Halfway House", with his wife Ruth and 3 children, William 20, Thomas 15 and Ann 10. Searching for descendents of this family. On 29 May 1841, my great-grandfather's parents, John WEST and Jane CRISP, married in Bath and it is recorded that her father was Joseph (sic) Crisp, butcher. Possibly the 1841 John Crisp is the same as the John Crisp, farmer, b Walcot, living at Charlcombe in 1851 with his daughter Ann and son Samuel (both b Twerton). This Samuel possibly same as Samuel Crisp (b Twerton) who was a farmer on Primrose Hill near Weston from 1871 to 1901. Sound familiar to anyone?

red mail TANNER, born WESTON, BATH
I am seeing information about my grandfather, John Silvanus Tanner, born in 1845 or 1846 in Weston, Bath, Somerset, or any family connections. By the time of the 1881 census, he was married to Amelia, from Limerick; they had 2 sons and 2 daughters and lived in London. By the time of the 1891 census, he had married a second time: to my grandmother, Reggie (nee delaPorte). They had 3 sons, one of whom - Jack - became a trade union leader and one of whom - Cyril St Leger - was my father. At various times in his career, John Tanner was a "legal agent, employing 3 clerks" (source: 1881 census), a journalist (1891 census)and sports manager at the old Crystal Palace. (Times obituary on my uncle Jack Tanner). I would be most grateful for any help that anyone can give me, since I know nothing else about my grandfather, his parents or his children by his first wife.
