SCAMMELL - 18th century
Is anybody out there descended from Scammells born here in the mid eighteenth century? I have a marriage for JOHN SCAMMELL & EDITH LONGMAN from 26 MAY 1755. Does anyone have any earlier information on any SCAMMELL familes at Wanstrow or in the vicinity please? I am descended through William, baptised 20 JULY 1756 and Jane YEOMAN who he married 07 JUNE 1779. I haven't got a baptism for the first John, but it should be around 1725-30. If not Wanstrow, where was he from?
red mail THOMPSON
Researching Sarah Thompson of Wanstrow who had illegitimate daughter Elizabeth - reputed father according to parish register was William BOTTLE (no further info. Elizabeth married John THORN 30/05/1748 in Wanstrow.
red mail THORN(E)
Researching the THORN family of Wanstrow, Earliest Joshua THORN bn app 1670, his son Joshua married Elizabeth CHAMPION 11/05/1719 in Wanstrow, their son John married Elizabeth THOMPSON 30/05/1748. The family seem to disappear from Wanstrow about 1900 but there are many THORN lines not accounted for between 1700 and 1900. Where did they come from before 1700 as the marriages of the earliest Joshua's children appear to be the first entries in the Wanstrow registers?
red mail Yeoman
I am looking for ancestors, siblings, and families of the children of William Yeoman and Jane Nicholls who married in 1866 and lived on Wanstrow St. Wanstrow, Somerset. Their son Alfred was my husband's grandfather and some of the siblings came to Canada, but what happened to Flora and Rosa Yeoman?( Is Rosa the Rose who married James Harris, c 1897?) Dora married Frank Eastwood and came to Canada after his death. There was also a Lily, an Ada and a Willie mentioned on other census's. Alfred married Blanch Prince whose family originated in Wanstrow . Other brothers married in Canada...we're searching for English relatives on all sides! Please help us fill in some blanks. Many Thanks Susan
