red mail Norton Family-Stogursey
I am currently exploring my family history. A number of my ancestors on my Father's side were from the Stogursey,Somerset . My GGGGG Grandfather was Soloman born Stogursey 1741 and my GGGGG Grandmother was Elizabeth Norton ( Nee Toms born 1745).They married in 1766. They had 6 children, 3 of whom died as babies/ infants. The remaining children were Edith 1769, Betty 1785 and John Norton my GGGG Grandfather. John married Elizabeth Browning in 1796. Her parents have been mentioned on this site- Silas and Tacey Browning ( nee Fish). Any information going further back on the Norton name gratefully accepted. A check of most Stogursey records I have managed to view reveal no entries pre 1741
red mail Richard Webber marr Elizabeth Tucker 1793
Hi I am looking for the birth and birth parish of Richard Webber who marr Elizabeth Tucker on 1793. Elizabeth was born possibly to William and Sarah Tucker 19th March 1773,at Stogursey, not confirmed. Children Mary 1794, Elizabeth 1796 buried 1797, Elizabeth 1800 buried 1800, Elizabeth 1802 buried 1826 aged 25 as of Stolford, John (ours) 14th August 1803, William 1805, Joan 1807, Martha 1808, Martha 1810, Thomas 1813. There is a later baptism of Frederick aged 10 in 1830 along with a brother James, though I think this James is from the other Richard Webber who married Elizabeth Thomas 6th December 1825. This other Richard isw possibly the son of our Richard Webber. Our Richard died aged 90 on 8th may 1852. His wife Elizbeth was still alive on the 1861 census aged 90 with with her unmarried son Thomas aged in his 40's. The 1851 census Richard is either 84 or 86 there is a line across it . Elizabeth is 80 they have their son Thomas with them. Richard is a fisherman, Elizabeth a Fishermans wife and Thomas is a fisherman. Any descendants please. I have a newsappaer obit for a later family member in th e1960's whose family it says were Thatchers fom 1634 originally from Barnstaple.
