red mail Nunney House History
I have started compiling a history of houses in Nunney. The project is in the early stages of development but residents of the village have already started to give me access to the old deeds of their houses so I will gradually create a list of residents of the past and will be happy to share this information. At the same time, I would be pleased to hear from anyone who has family connections in the village either past or present.
My 2xgreat grandfather, John Hillier married Sarah Reakes of Wincanton on 21 January 1844 at Nunney. His marriage certificate shows that his father was William Hillier and that he married with consent of parents. In later census returns his birthplace is given as Nunney. The only John Hillier I can find was baptised at Nunney on 23 October 1825, so the age is about right, but his parents are given as John and Elizabeth. Does anyone know if there is another John Hillier born about 1825 around there somewhere?
