Sarah Flower Hill - Turner
My great grandmother, until this week, has been refered to as Sarah Flower Turner, who married Henry Isaac Brown. I just received a copy of one of her son's birth certificate which names his mother as Sarah Brown, formerly Hill. Sarah's mother, Elizabeth Hill, had Sarah in 1844 and her sister, Louisa, in 1847, before marrying George Turner on 9 October 1849. They had a son, William James, who was born in 1850. Does anybody know of a source to find out if George Turner actually adopted the two girls or if they just went by the name Turner? On Louisa's birth certificate the name of the father is left blank and the mother is listed as Elizabeth Hill. It's possible that Turner was actually the biological father of the two girls, but there's no way that I know of to prove that. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
