Fishing Fleet in Newfoundland
My ancestor, Samuel Mills, b. 1823 at Crewkerne, emigrated to Newfoundland/Labrador in 1844 and lived at Burin Bay. He married Phoebe Hollett in 1849 at Burin and also Mary Ann Beasley-Hollett in 1876. There is a family story that Samuel had a fishing fleet and I wonder if this was inherited from the Hollett side of the family? He had 10 children (that I know of) and I would love to hear from anyone connected. Samuel died in 1889 at Burin, Newfoundland.
I am looking for information concerning William Hallett and Elizabeth Stephen who were the subjects of Gainsborough's portrait Early Morning Walk. I know that they had a daughter Lettice and she was bequeathed the painting upon William's death. However, I believe William and Elizabeth had 2 other surviving children and I need to know if one of those children was a son who was able to carry on the family name. Any details much appreciated Lynda
