Trying to find out more about my paternal grandparents. George Rawlings married Edith Mary Baker in Bridgwater 1909. Had 3 children Alfred George born 23rd June 1914 at Love Lane. Burnham-on-Sea. Edith commonly called Ethel by family. And Cat presumably short for Catherine or Kathleen who died as a child. Understand grandmother and children walked to Swindon from Burnham when father was 5 or 6 years old and all family papers was lost during this journey. I also understand that my grand parents spent some time in America.

I am researching my maternal ancestors John and Selina Whitburn who lived in New Market Street & Oxford Street, Burnham-on-Sea from 1831 to 1873 and had 11 Children. Three of the sons were marniers William, Henry and Edmund, a fourth James followed his father and became a head gardner. Henry and Edmund imigrated to Newport, Wales in the early 1870's; William seems to have spent all his life at sea. Does anyone have any imformation on this family.

I am tracing the ARNEY family from Burmham and Moorlinch. John ARNEY was born in Burnham and Married Keturah Ridge from Shapwick. They lived at Watchfield on a farm. Iwould be glad of any information and to find out if there are still the Arney's there.
