Babeys of Batcombe
Hello. My great grandmother was Catherine Sarah Babey who was born in Cork Ireland in 1848 and her father was Richard Babey of Batcombe. He was born in 1788 and fought at Waterloo along with two of his brothers Thomas & Joseph in The 40th Regiment of Foot (2nd Somersetshire). I'd love to hear from anyone who has researched the Babey family or any members of the extended Babey family as I've got lots of blanks still to fill and my research continues.

Sons Nathaniel, William, and Cananuiel immigrated to N America in mid to late 1600s. Son Richard Britton Jr was Vicar of Bisley, Gloucestershire in 1641. YDNA testing assistance available for qualified male descendant.
red mail John Sydney Babey
My grandfather, John Sydney Babey, was born August 4, 1914, in London, England. According to an old family diary in our possession, his ancestors came from Batcombe, Somersetshire. (The first entry in the diary is the baptism of Richard Babey, son of Thomas and Mary Babey, in 1783 or 1789 in Batcombe.) John Sydney Babey was the sixth child of Richard and Alice Babey. Richard served in the Royal Army in WW1, died of pneumonia in 1919. Alice had apparently abandoned the family sometime earlier; it is believed she may have gone to Australia. John, along with his brother James and sister Nelly, came to Canada in 1922 (Jim) and 1924 (John and Nelly). John and Nelly settled near Tillsonburg, Ontario, Canada. Their brother James came two years earlier, in 1922. I am interested in learning more of my family history, finding family in England (and Australia?. The family diary, which came to Canada in my grandfather's steamer trunk in 1924, contains brief references to voyages to the Bay of Fundy in Canada, New South Wales, and the West Indies. There are also references to County Cork and County Clare in Ireland; Glasgow, Scotland; Nelley Camp in France, as well as the battles of Leipzig and Waterloo. In addition, there are numerous references to births, marriages and deaths.)
red mail Richmond Millard
I am looking for info on Richmond Millard, there are several generations of men with this same name, I am eager for information on any of them, I am trying to piece together my ancestor Caroline Millard born Batcombe 1805 circa. I beleive a Richmond Millard was one of her male relations, but just cannot get the connection yet. Any help appreciated. This Millard family seem to be in Cloford as well.
red mail REX (REAKES)
Researching the REX (REAKES) family of Upton Noble, Batcombe and Shepton Mallet areas. Would be interested in contact with anyone else with intereste in, or information on the above. Earliest known is Charles REX 1699.
red mail Lambert Family of Batcombe Somerset
My Great Grandfather Charles Kempson Ebsworth of Gloucester, married Mary Ann Lambert of Batcombe Somerset in 1851, in the Registrary Office in Axbridge Somerset. Mary Ann lists her father as Joshua Lambert a Labourer on their marriage certificate. But I've had no luck tracing Joshua Lambert of Somerset. All I have found is a William Lambert, who had a daughter called mary Ann and the right year of her birth. I would love validation that this was indeed the same family as in my family tree. Mary Ann and Charles travelled to Liverpool straight after their marriage, where my family come from. I've been researching all my family tree for 18 months, but have got really stuck with the Lamberts. If anyone has any information, could you please contact me.
