Thomas & Ann Poulter lived at Priest Weston and were farmers of approximately 80 acres. I do not know if they had their own children, but Elizabeth Poulter, Thomas's niece went to live with them and worked in the capacity of servant. In 1851 she shows as a domestic servant and in 1861 she list listed as being a Dairy Maid.

From The Century Cyclopedia of Names 1895 Richard Baxter was born at Rowton, Shropshire 12th November 1615 and died in London 8th December 1691. A noted English Nonconformist divine. He was ordained in 1638, and was chosen Lecturer at Kidderminster in 1640, and about 1646 became a chaplain in Cromwell's army. He subsequently favoured the Restoration and on the accession of Charles II was appointed chaplain to the King, but left the Church of England in 1662 when he retired to Acton.

John Blount (or Blunt) was christened at All Saints Claverley SAL 29th Oct 1797, and lived most of his life in a tiny hamlet called Spoonley Gate in Rudge. He rented his house and land from the Lord of the Manor. He was married twice - 1st to Mary Chapman - 2nd to Ann Wynn. He died 6th Jan 1867 and was buried at Claverley. Legend has it that he had some connection with Shipley Hall. I would be interested in any links you may find to him or his family

Norton/Winnall -Talbot Inn St Georges 1918 Looking for information, memories, photographs and relatives of my paternal grandmother Mary Irene Norton born 8 June 1918. I have just discovered that Mary Irene is my grandmother. Her father was George Norton and her mother was Louisa May Norton (nee Winnall). They lived Talbot Inn, St Georges in Wrockwardine Wood. Mary Irene married Stanley Gordon Chapple and had a son John Gordon Chapple born 1940 in Barnstaple, Ilfracombe, Devon. In 1946, Mary Irene remarried in Bilston Stafford. In 1952, she immigrated to Australia with her second husband Leslie Salter Hill and her son John. I have traced Mary Irene to Melbourne Australia in the late 1950s. I believe she may have divorced her second husband in 1962. I do not know what happened to my grandmother Mary Irene after 1962. Her son John died in Melbourne in 1990. If you have any information please contact me. Mary Irene has 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren that have never met her and are living in Melbourne Australia.

not sure about this but in the 1901 census my ancestors are living in Burnley Lancs with their nephew Isaac Colke who was said to have been born in 'Stewkley'Shropshire, I can only assume that this should be Stirchley - since another relative is recorded as being born in 'Horshey' - obviously Horsehay. Isaac would have been born around 1871 and was the nephew of samuel and Anne Jones b 1848 and 1864 respectively, sam from Horsehay and Anne from Colchester Essex. Thomas Boulton, my great great grandfather was born in 1806 in Whitchurch , married Hannah Madeley on the last day of 1828 They had six children from 1830 to 1846 and they were all baptised at the parish church of Tilstock.Thomas Boulton was one of along line of Thomas Boulton's whose roots lay in the Whitchurch area of Shropshire. The ill fated Thomas was the second to youngest son and was born at the Hollins , Tilstock ( 1 mile south of Whitchurch ) on the 5th June 1841. At the age of twentysix he married Lydia Notman at Newton Ie Willows in Lancashire. Thomas lost his life at the age of fifty seven trying to stop a runaway railway wagon . That day he had left for work at six thirty am. He was brought home to his wife Lydia at eleven 'o'clock and died just after midday. Going back to Shropshire the first of the Thomas Boultons appeared to have spent his life as an agricultural labourer around Whitchurch and Wem . At one time he lived at Coton and may have worked on a large Estatein that area . Hannah died in 1864 and some time in the 1860s Thomas remarried ,her name was Elizabeth , but by 1881 he was alone again living in Quinabrooke Wem .
