I am looking for the marriage of Stephen brotherton who I believe married in 1836 in wombridge
Hi - The above are my gt gt grandmother than grandfather George was born 1815 and Hannah 1813. They had 5 children, one of which was Elizabeth - my great grandmother. She married Joseph Martin. Can anyone give me any info as to George and Hannah's parents. Thanks Christine
red mail Whatever happened to Annie Mills
Here's a mystery. I found my Gt. Gt. Grandfather James Mills living in Wombridge in 1891. He was 70 / 71 at the time but he had living with him a daughter from a second marriage I presume ( first wife died in 1854 in Shrewsbury ) a young girl named Annie, born in Dudley in 1868 aged 23. He and his family moved about backwards and forwards from Shropshire to Dudley so a second marriage in the West Midlands wouldn't surprise me. I found Annie's birth, sent for a certificate but it wasn't her. This Annie Mills had a much younger father named James, a mother named Mercy, and sibblings - I traced them from moving from Dudley to Yorkshire , completely wrong. However, I can't find our Annie except in 1891 - no birth registration. I assume she married and stayed in Shropshire but the only marriage I can find isn't her either.Too young. No death registration of her as Annie mills either. What might have happened here? Nothing in 1901. She is not with her older half sisters. Any information welcome. .

red mail STONES- BATE- Sheffield
I am looking for information about an Abraham Stone or Stones, born around 1853 in Bilston, Staffs. In 1861 he was 8 years old and living with his grandparents, Abraham and Lydia BATE in Wombridge. I cannot find any trace of which daughter of theirs was his mother (I suspect it was one who had already left home by the 1841 census, but cannot identify her). Abraham's mother might have been their daughter Rebecca, 12 in 1841 and who is not seen on later censuses as Rebecca BATE, but I cannot find any marriage by her to a STONE(S). Abraham turns up later, staying with his uncle Thomas BATE who had moved to Attercliffe-cum-Darnall, Sheffield, in 1881. Thereafter Abraham disappears from the censuses (so far as I can tell). Does anyone have any inkling about him? Or for that matter about another member of the BATE family, William, who also went to live in the same part of Sheffield (he worked as an iron roller/wire roller) as his younger brother, Thomas. William was married to a Jane (?) and they had several children: Ann Louise; Rebecca; Abel; Eliza; Fanny and Richard. Several years later William and Jane were separated.
