Owens of Wellington, Shropshire
I'm looking for information about the Owen family who lived at Regent Street and Millfields around 1880 - 1915. Martha Owen lived at Watling St and had 2 illegitimate children: Alfred Owen and a daughter Louisa. Martha then married a Thomas Pritchard of Wellington and had more children. Alfred married Edith Lewis and they lived in Regent St where my grandfather Cyril was born. There were other children, including a baby, Sidney, who died at about 6 weeks old. The family eventually moved to Millfields, Wellington. I would be very grateful for any help with this. Thanks

He married Margaret Watkin 16 November 1831 in Llanwnog,Montgomeryshire.and moved to Wellington before 1851. The various census's say he was born in Staffs,Newport,Salop,Moreton,Salop and Gnosall,Staffs he was born abt 1806 and thats all I can find out about him. I am trying to locate 'Ivor' referred to in a letter from Julia Alice Giles (Wellington) to her cousin (my great aunt) Cissie Lloyd in Bloxwich in 1970. She was to stay with him in Shrewsbury for Christmas. Ivor may be the only living link to the Giles family, unfortunately his surname/relationship is unknown. The Giles family, mother Susan (nee Lloyd), father Edward & children Susan Annie, Julia Alice & George Edward (along with the Lloyds, Mary & George) are known to have lived in King St, Wellington from the 1911 census until the death of Susan Annie in 1962. They are all buried in Wellington Cemetery. Any information on the family generally or any information on Ivor will be much appreciated.

Frederick Cox born Wellington 1821. In the 1841 Census, Frederick Leggitt and Ann Plimmer, both 20, were in Aston, Warwickshire. Frederick Cox and Ann married in Edgbaston, Warwickshire in Dec.1841. His father recorded as John Cox, Shoe Maker. In 1851 Census Frederick and Ann are under the name Cox, in Wellington. From the 1861 Census, they are under the name Liggett or variation of spelling. 11 children born in Wellington between 1842 and 1859 were christened Cox except 12th child Florence Maud Liggitt, born Birmingham in 1866. All children went under name Liggett. Any information on this family, or Frederick and Ann's parents would be much appreciated.

Samuel PERRY (1825-1911), a relative, lived at 24 King Street for the 1901 census and one of his sons, Thomas, a few doors down at Number 20. However, when I checked in the newly opened 1911 Census and went to look up those numbers for King St, they were not listed... I wondered if there was a major demolition in Wellington in the first decade of the 20thC. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter? I had rather hoped to try and get a picture of the house(s) since I have never visited the city...

He was a member of the gentry and it is said he married a local inn keeper's daughter against his father's wishes. It was a morganatic marriage, and John and his bride (possibly Sarah) were packed off to Liverpool where they had several children (including my great great great grandmother Mary Hill b. c1805).

I am seeking information on the family of Samuel Richard and Honor Florence RICHARDS, who were married in Wellington, Shropshire in 1890. Samuel was born in Oldham, Lancs., and their first three children were also born there (Ernest, George and Ada), however in 1901 a daughter, Dorothy was born and their address was Haybridge Road, Wellington. Their next child, Honor was also born there in 1903. In 1911 they had a son, Broadley, who was born in Prestwich. At some point, either just before or just after WW1, Dorothy and her sister Honor came to Australia, where Dorothy married in 1928. Would appreciate any information.
