Hello, I am looking for any information on my great uncle Frank Mitchell Ruscoe. He was born in 1889 in Yorkshire but grew up in Dawley to the best of my knowledge. He fought in WW1 and survived. He had three sisters, one of which was my grandmother. Their names were Dora, Edith and Muriel. His parents were Hannah Mitchell and John Ruscoe. Hello, I am looking for any relatives of my grandfather, Clifford Ball. He had a butcher shop in the town of Dawley that later grew into a grocers and he shared with his brother Noah. It was later sold to a retail grocers. He served in the First World War and was a great lawn bowler. He lived on Heath Hill. He was born in the 1890's and married Edith Ruscoe. They had two children, Dennison and Muriel. Dennison passed away at 16 from an appendicitis attack. I am Muriel's daughter. I know that Clifford had many sisters and brothers. I only know of Noah and May, who moved to Toronto Canada. I think he had a sister Muriel as well. If anyone might know of him, it would be great. My sister and I are the only ones left from our family and we live in Canada.

George Thomas York was my GrGreat Grandfather born 1803 in Sheriff Hales. Benjamin and Rachael where his parents. He was convicted in 1845 for stealing a horse, 10years to Australia. He was married to Ann Lewis-Jones in 1836 and left behind two daughters,Mary,Martha (my Gr.Grandmother) and George 5 mths old. They all lived in Dawley. Ann married Michael Garbett some years later and had a son,Michael. Have his court papers but cannot find what became of him when released.Cannot find him in Australia. Any help would be appreciated. I am researching my husbands family Colley who came from Dawley Magna.I have got back to Richard Colley bapt 1793 who married Catherine Pursal in 1818.They had at least three children John b1824,Martha b1820,Samuel b 1830.John is our direct line and he married Jane Owen b1821,in 1842 also in Dawley.They had 6children the eldest being Thomas b 1844who married Maria Jones firstley and then after Marias death Emma Tripass from Westwood in Warwickshire.Can anyone help me on the Colley, Purcel families at this early stage

Have been looking for Emily for years, can you help? Emily, born Dawley, Shropshire 1890, married Thomas Bull in St Marys Church, Hales, Stafford on July 14, 1926. Thomas was murdered at Witherley Hall Witherly April 26, 1927 so Emily was widowed within a year of marriage. She was almost 25yrs younger than her husband having been a nurse to his first wife Harriet! Did she remarry? Nobody in the family know what happened to her......Any leads much appreciated!!

Looking for info re Harriet Williams b. 1826 c. 18/10/1829 Dawley Magna, Shropshire. Parents Benjamin Williams and Sarah Garbett. Harriet Williams was convicted in Staffordshire Qtr Sessions for stealing (2nd offence) on 4/1/1847 and transported to Van Dieman's Land for 7 years arriving on 2/1/1848. Not known if she had any siblings. Don't know what happened to her family when she was transported. Any help appreciated.

I'm looking for details of George Ellis 1870-1951 who was I believe the publican of The George Inn around the 1910 -1915 era. Apparently he was witness to a murder of a young child and had to flee Dawley suddenly. If anyone can shed any light on him, the pub or the murder, I'd be very grateful .

I am trying to find any information regarding an Edwin Lockley who was the co-respondent in a Divorce case in 1921 between John Edgerton and Edith Edgerton. The adultery took place in Dawley, Shropshire during 1919. I would be interested to know also who lived in the following addresses in 1919 - 10 or 12 Finger Road, Dawley or 10 or 12 Crown Street, Dawley.

I have emailed a couple of you regarding this name but for anyone else interested the name was originally spelt Dorrall & only changed to Darrall sometime after 1861.They lived at number 4 Hollywell Lane from about 1720 or before until at least 1871.The first owner was Edward Dorrall.In 1863 a Elizabeth Dorrall was living there with her son Thomas.In 1787 Thomas married a Mary Morgan and their son Benjamin was born in 1789.Benjamin is listed as living in the house with his wife Margaret andtheir six children in 1841.By 1861 Benjamin had died and Margaret was living there with two sons " George " and " William ".In 1871 George "Darrall" is listed as living there with his wife Emma and their son Thomas.The house was the oldest of all the houses on Hollywell Lane and I have a photograph of it taken in 1772.As a matter of correctness Hollywell Lane was in the village of Little Dawley and not Dawley.I hope this will be of interest to all concerned.
