red mail cadwallader
my gr. grandfather , charles cadwallader was born there in the 1850s=1860s? his dad was thomas and his mum alice (tolley).they had a william , elizabeth, martha, and maybe more. the family moved around and frequented the clun, burford, bitterley , etc, areas, and over to the hereford border. could he have been sold into slavery? his mum died and in the next census he was a farm labourer in another place. he was only eleven! he never spoke to his family again . the rest of the family was still together in the next census.(he was not the youngest) . he came to australia , and his descendants thought he had no family in england. i found this out when i started doing family history! i wondered why no one knew anything about our grandma said he refused to discuss them. thanks, lee
