John Inglis was born in Ancrum in 1786, married Margaret Lockie in Melrose in 1808, moved to Bowden where several children were born, then to Lilliesleaf, then all the way to Guelph, Canada in 1830 or so. There he was a well-to-do farmer and radical member of the Presbyterian church. He died in 1862. Any information about the Inglis-Lockie families would be appreciated.

Mary Ann BELL, b. abt 1823-1827, Scotland (maybe Maxton,) married Thomas THIN, b.1825-1828 Jedburgh, Roxburgh, m. abt 22 Dec. 1850 Jedburgh, after banns were read on Dec. 15 $ 22. Religion: Evangelical Union (Morisonian). Marriage record in Church ofScotland records. Haven't checked OPR yet. Mary Ann Bell's parents may be David Bell & Mary Robertson. If so her Christening probably in Maxton, 19 October 1823. She would have been their second little Mary Ann, the first apparently died sometime after her Christening two years earlier. Mary Ann and Thomas emigrated to Canada c. 1855. Two children died at sea. So far no link found with the THIN family of New Zealand. Suspect related to the THIN family who formerly owned Thin's Bookstore inEdinburgh. Happy to exchange information with proven relatives.
