red mail Agnes Dick Alexander
Agnes is my great great grandmother and she was born in Melrose 21.1.1839. She married Thomas Ireland b 1812 supposedly 1860 in Monifieth, Angus. They ended up in Sydney and lived in Parramatta area and died there. Agnes in 1925 and Thomas in 1874. Does anyone know about this couple before they arrived in sydney and why they came.

Looking for any info on above who married a Henry Paterson in 1833 in Peebles. They had 10 children some born in Stow, Midlothian and some in Melrose. I believe she was born around 1812 in Peebles but can find no trace of her birth or Death. I do know that Henry died in Kittyfield, Melrose in 1877

Looking for any information on James Wallace and Margaret Henderson. My ggrandmother Agnes was their daughter and born circa 1851 in Melrose. She later migrated to Australia and married Nehemiah Lea. Their daughter Hilda was born in Helensburgh. Very grateful for any information Marilyn

My great great grandfather Andrew Mann born about 1821 was a blacksmith when he married a Margaret Elliot at Earlston in 1843. His son, my great grandfather, Andrew was born at Galashields in 1846 and became a veterinary surgeon ( as did his father in later life). Has anyone any more information on Andrew senior, as I have reached the inevitable brick wall?

THIS COUPLE MARRIED IN MELROSE IN 1717. SO FAR I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND THEIR PARENTS AND WOULD WELCOME ANY INPUT. THEIR CHILDREN WERE GEORGE b1721 AND ALISON 1718 THEY WERE MY 7 X GRANDPARENTS THANK YOU

We are descended from the oliver family who left mlrose in 1838/37 to live in chrichton midlothian. James oliver was a baker and his wife jane jamieson was the daughter of thomas jamison who was a blacksmith and agnes veitch. They had seven children inluding agnes who married john henderson in carrington. She is my great great great granny

Hi, I am interested in any information on the Bunyan's from Melrose, and surrounding parishes. I have been tracing the family for the past 11yrs and have got as far back as 1540's. I am interested in all Bunyan's but espically those from Roxburghshire. All info gratefully received any questions please contact me.

Robert Walker married Elizabeth Davidson in Melrose 1806. The family later moved to Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire. Did they have a daughter Elizabeth, and did she marry John Lawrie in Tillicoultry in 1845?

My THIN (THINN, THYNN, THYNNE etc) family were in Blainslie, Melrose Parish from the mid 1500s. Some are buried in the grounds of Melrose Abbey, where there are two THIN tombstones still standing.
