Weston / McDonald / Keyworth
My grandmother, Marguerite McDonald WESTON was born in Dingwall in 1916. Her parents were May Keyworth (b1892) & Ernest Weston. Her father is a complete mystery though. Ernest was an actor/vocalist - was he performing locally and just boarding in Dingwall? Was 'Ernest Weston' a stage name? Why did they give their daughter the middle name of McDonald? There doesn't seem to be a Scottish connection on the Keyworth side of the family so maybe Ernest had family or friends nearby?
Munro in Dingwall
My ancestor Rev.Harry Munro b1730 Dingwall and d 1810 Edinburgh...his parents were Dr.Robert Munro, physician by profession in Dingwall (b.abt 1710 d.abt 1746) who apparently from Harry's memoir was the 2nd son of Alexander Munro, Laird of Killachoan (abt 1685 Of,Killachoan?) and ?, who in turn was son of Robert Munro, a Laird, son of the Laird of Tenaird, & ? who in turn was son of Sir Robert Munro of Foulis, 3rd Baronet. Harry's Mother was Anne Munro (b.abt 1718, d.1748) was daughter of John Munro, surgeon and 4th Laird of Teanourd/Teanoird & Catharine Bayne or Katherine Allan, son of Lt.Col.Andrew Munro and Hon.Margaret Fraser. All this information is what I've been able to find online.... I'm in total confusion with so many of the names the same but if someone has access to this information it would be greatly appreciated.
red mail Dingwall-Mackenzie, Dingwall, Cameron
I am looking for info on Thomas Mackenzie (born 1786 in Auchterneed, Fodderty), who married Annabel Cameron (born 1782 in Dingwall parish) on 4 Mar 1808 in Dingwall or Fodderty. Their children were : (possibly Roderick 1813 - Kiltearn); Alexander 11 May 1815 - Dingwall; Elizabeth 14 Jul 1815 - Dingwall; Catherine 14 Aug 1819 - Urquhart & Logie Wester; Janet 21 Feb 1821 - Urquhart & Logie Wester; Thomas 13 Feb 1828 - Dingwall. Thomas's father is thought to have been Roderick Mackenzie, but I have no evidence for this. On the register of births for Alexander (Thomas & Annabel's son), Thomas is described as a 'servant' residing in Pitglassie just south of Dingwall. Alexander became a carpenter and moved to Edinburgh where he became a letter sorter with the Post Office. He married a local lass (Johanna Dingwall born Feb 1822 in Alness) in London where she might well have been a maid. Her parents were Kenneth & Isabella Dingwall. They settled in Edinburgh.
