red mail ISABELLA KIRKWOOD
I am trying to solve a mystery. Charles Kirkwood and Annabella McKaeg migrated to Australia in 1838, with seven children plus one baby 3 months old. It seems they left another baby, aged 15 months, behind presumably with family as it was probably too much of a burden to tend for two babies on the voyage. The child, Isabella, ended up in California in around 1851 and married there, died there in 1899. My Great Grandfather who never met her travelled to USA in 1906 to visit her family. My problem is who was she left with in Kilmalcolm, and how, when and with whom did she voyage to USA?? Any help or advice greatly appreciated.
red mail Simpson/Brown
I am trying to find any information on James Simpson, DOB 1811-1816 in Glasgow, death date unknown. He was a boiler maker journeyman. I have been told that his family may be from Kilmalcolm. His wife Marion Brown, DOB 1826 in Renfrewshire, died in Glasgow in 1870. There is a Marion Brown of this age with a younger brother William, living in Kilmalcolm in 1841 census. I am unable to find their marriage certificate or birth certificates for their three children, Mary 1851 in Linlithgow, Annie 1856 in Glasgow, and my grandfather James, 1853 in Bellshill. Alison
