red mail Drummond
I am interested in finding any Drummond's in the Monzie area during the 1770 - 1780's. I have a Daniel Drummond living in Northumberland, England stating on his children's baptism certificates his own father living in Monzees, Monzie, Fowls and Stowrie Scotland any help would be appreciated. On various records for himself he could have been born anytime between 1770 and 1785.
red mail John Taylor, weaver, beadle and householder of Monzie
I have seen the handwriting of my ggg-grandfather John Taylor (1778-1869) because he helped with the census of the parish of Monzie, which had outlying areas. John Taylor was a weaver, and he signed himself as a householder of Monzie, but he was probably recruited for the job because he was a beadle. The 1821 christening record of my gg-grandfather, his third known son, reads, "Decr 2: William Ritchie Son of John Taylor Weaver Knowhead of Monzie and Helen Cock his Spouse - Born the 25 of last month and baptized this day." The schoolmaster had commented in the Monzie census that there was a shortage of housing in the village and a high rate of emigration, and William Ritchie Taylor lived in Leith for most of his life, though his son William moved back to Crieff. I would be very interested in any photos of the family, family stories, or historic photographs of the area.
red mail McKenzie
I am interested in McKenzies who lived in or around Monzie.
red mail Forbes John and Gordon Margaret
John Forbes and Margaret Gordon had a son, James Forbes, born Monzie, Perthshire in 1800. John was originally a servant, but later was listed as an innkeeper. Their son, James, relocated to Aberdeen, and was a vintner in James Street for many years. Have been unable to find a marriage for John and Margaret, and James is the only child of the marriage for whom I have found a birth entry.
