red mail King, John
John King was born 1866 in Methven Scotland, and I cannot find any more on him only that he ended up in Tasmania Australia, married my GG/M Mary McKenize from NSW, had my G/F Leslie Edward Richard King there, and then moved all to NZ where he lived his entire life.
red mail Robert Donaldson
hMy great grandfather, Robert Donaldson, was born in Methven/Perthshire in 1817. His parents were David and Christian (McEwan) Donaldson. They were married in Perthshire on May 17, 1807. Before moving to the U.S. (about 1841) he apprenticed as a machinist in Scotland, beginning at 15 yrs old, and later worked in Belfast and Liverpool. In the U.S. he was an active Freemason which leads me to believe he became a Freemason while in Scotland. Would his involvement in the Masonic Order be of ant help in finding out more about his parents and siblings?
red mail David & Christian (McEwan) Donaldson
David Donaldson is my great great grandfather. He married Christian McEwan (McCowan) in Perthshire May 17, 1807. My great grandfather, Robert Donaldson was born in 1817. He came to the U.S about 1841. He later became a sucessful industrialist in Detroit Michigan. His company built steam engines for commercial ships. There is a written history of him and his accomplishments in Detroit but I wpould like to know more about the family that remained in Scotland. I was told by family elders that he had siblings. Sometime around 1892 he returned to Scotland with his twin sons, who were about 10-12 years of age, I assume to visit his home land and show his twins their heritage. I would love to know more about the family in Scotland. One of the twins (Robert jr) was my grandfather. I have always cherished family history and would like to be able to pass this information on to my two children to help them appreciate who they are.
red mail ROBERTSON - METHVEN, PERTHSHIRE
Looking for any information on DAVID ROBERTSON, farm labourer, West Perth Parish, Perth, Pertshire. His daughter MARY ROBERTSON lists her birthplace as Methven in the census. Mary marriage banns were read in the Tibbermore Parish Church in 1842. David is listed as deceased on her marriage registration. I suspect that David Robertson was married to Helen Davidson. If you are linked to Robertsons from Methven assistance would be appreciated. I also have photos of four Robertson gravestones in the Tibbermore Parish Churchyard which I would be happy to send to people researching Robertsons of Methven/Tibbermore.
