Researching John McDonald and his family who lived in Fortingall Parish during the 1750's - Two written sources suggest this McDonald family lineage originated from the Isle Of Skye but later relocated around the time of the 1745 Jacobite uprising - Children of John McDonald & Margaret Gow (all born Fortingall parish) - Malcom McDonald b.17/04/1750 - ( not legible) McDonald b.02/08/1752 - Margaret McDonald b.22/10/1754 - Duncan McDonald b.29/10/1757 - Malcom (Malcolm) McDonald married Catherine Stewart - Paisley 06/01/1776 - A headstone marks their resting place at the "High Kirk", Oakshaw Street in Paisley - Catherine Stewart may also originate from Perthshire.

Isabella's parents were Catherine Brown born in Fortingall in 1847, her father was John MacPherson born in 1846, Catherine's parents were Margaret McGregor and Donald Brown. Isabella did have brothers Donald, Hugh, John and sisters Maggie and Jessie would love any living relatives to fill in lots of gaps.

Jessica/Janet b. 10.1.1856 - 28.12.1936 unmarried interred Crieff Cemetery. Donald b. 25.7.1860 - 8.5.1927 married 23.5.1893 Agnes McAndrew b.16.4.1868 Logie, Fife d.14.8.1927 both interred Crieff Cemetery. Donald and Agnes were my grandparents
Can anyone assist with info. on Janet McGREGOR(place & date of birth unk.)of Little Dunkeld parish who married John SCOTT at Fortingall c. August 1788. Last info. known had her living at Fortingall manse 1841 census as pauper aged 80.

Elizabeth 1827 and John Mcgregor 1838 were born in Blair Atholl parish. John Mcgregor Stewart lived in Alness for a time and as did his wife Elizabeth(Betsy) Mckenzie. They settled around Kingussie&Insh, Inverness. Any information about Angus and Janet would be very helpful.

Am researching Catherine Anderson, b Nov 4, 1844 at Fortingall. Her parents were Donald Anderson and Elizabeth McGregor. Catherine married John Robertson on June 14, 1872 in Fortingall. On their marriage certificate, John is listed as a shepherd fromEaster Tempar Rannoch, and his parents were, father: Alexander Robertson, farmer and mother: Ann Stewart. They had at least one daughter, Ann Robertson b 18 Mar 1873 in Fortingall.
Jessie Stewart born abt 1841. Brother Alastair, born in 1852 wrote "A Highland Parish" about Fortingall. He was a writer & poet (in Gaelic)of some reknown. His daughter, Alexandra (Leckie) wrote "The Glen That Was" about GlenLyon& also "Daughters of the Glen" about her own family, the daughters being her & her 7 sisters. Descendants of these chidren were industrious & gifted in many ways. The book is well worth reading. Try second hand book dealers on theNet
