William Maurice (c1693-1778) "minister of the Gospel" of Llanrhian (spelt Lanrhyan in his will) had 22 children, 11 by his first wife Elizabeth Perkins (1695-1738) and, after her death, another 11 by his second wife Ann Loyd. The 11th by the first wife was Joel Maurice (1738-1807), one of my ancestors. Is there any information on the 10 who came before him? In particular, I suspect that one of them was Michael Maurice (born c1728) who was the grandfather of Frederick Denison Maurice, a famous theologian of Victorian times. Is there any evidence to support or to refute this?

red mail FIDDIS and SHEWEN in Sandy Haven 1760 to 1770 - (St Ishmael's - Pembrokeshire)
Has anyone any link to, or information about, my 5xgreat grandparents JOHN & MARTHA FIDDIS (nee SHEWEN), married by licence at St.Ismael's in April 1762? JOHN FIDDIS was a ships surgeon in the R.N. on board HMS Scorpion at the time of his marriage. His will was proved at London in May 1771 but I have no idea of the cause or place of death. In fact, I have no dates nor locations of birth of either JOHN FIDDIS or his bride MARTHA SHEWEN. They did have one known child. A daughter named ELIZABETH FIDDIS, born about 1763,(I think), probably at Sandy Haven/St.Ismael's. JOHN'S will, made in 1769 refers to his ...'beloved wife Martha Shewen of Sandyhaven in the parish of St.Ishmael's. Does anyone have any information about, or have an interest in, this small family group or alternatively, can offer any suggestions as to the sources of further information? (Other than visiting the Record Office in Haverfordwest which is pencilled-in for later in the year). Subsequent family names descending from ELIZABETH and her eventual husband CHARLES JOHN are;- JOHN; JONES; THOMAS; WILCOX; HIER; SYNGE; PHILLIPS. These families are located in and around Walwyns Castle, Pembroke Dock and, Haverfordwest. Any information related to the above mentioned names that I may be able to help you with is freely available to anyone expressing a genuine interest. Regards to all. Don.
