red mail Nathaniel Collins, b. Amroth, 1818
The parish church record for my above descendant states that he was son of Thomas Collins and Martha Morris, who were both resident in Amroth Castle (owned by Capt. Ackland) at the time. I am wondering if anyone can recommend an historian who would have an in-depth knowledge of people and life in Amroth between 1818 and 1841? I am also interested in the piece of land, close to Amroth Castle, which was known as Nathaniel's Meadow (mentioned in Roscoe Howells book 'A Brief History of Amroth'), and why it was so named?
I am searching for any information in relation to a great Grandmother - Susannah or Susan Lewis, born in (I am told) Stepaside, Pembrokeshire, between about 1850 and 1857. Some confusion over the date of birth - I have not been able to trace a birth certifiate - and her name. On some documents in later life she is down as Susan and on others as Susannah. Her father was Philip Lewis and her mother Elizabeth Schofield/Scourfield (not sure of the spelling) Siblings were Elizabeth, Caroline, Ann(e), Philip and Benjamin; there may have been more. Susan, or Susannah, worked in a pub (the Kings Head) in Newport (Skinner Street??) where she met her future husband Thomas Jenkins, who was a Tin Plate Worker. Any information relating to the Lewis or Schofield Family would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
