James Main b. abt 1806 - (Tweedsmuir - Peeblesshire)
My 3g grandfather, James Main, b. abt 1806, is a mystery. According to census 1841, he was born in Peeblesshire, and census 1851 specifies Tweedsmuir, Peebles; but census 1861 says Edinburgh. His death reg (Liberton, Edinburgh, 1867) yields no information about his parents. James Main married Jean Veitch (b. Drumelzier, Peebles in 1798), probably in Drumelzier; but I can find no marriage reg. I have a birth reg for only one of their 3 children, George Main (1830, Biggar, Lanarkshire); censuses indicates Agnes was born abt 1836 in Glenholm, Peebles, and James junior abt 1839 in Newlands, Peebles. I have information about their descendants and also about the family of Jean Veitch; would be happy to share this with anyone descended from this family or researching it.

Lindsay, Rough, Tod families in West Linton - (West Linton - Peeblesshire)
My 5 ggrandmother, Helen (Nelly) Lindsay (Lindsey) (probably b. 1751 in Temple, Midlothian) may have been the daughter of James Lindsay (dob unknown) and Helen Rough (b. 1724 in West Linton), who married in West Linton in 1750. Helen Rough's parents were John Rough (b. 1685) and Helen Tod (b. 1687), both natives of West Linton, where they married in 1714. I'd be interested to contact, and share info with, anyone researching these families.
