THOMAS and EMMA GRIFFIN ran the Boot Inn, Stonesfield from at least 1891-1895. I have found them in one Kelly's directory and a census, but I'd like to know how long they were there for and who took over from them. Does anyone have access to a directory for 1890 and 1900 or know anything about the Boot Inn generally? In 1939 the landlord was Frederick Griffin, but I haven't yet worked out where in the family he fits...

My ancestors, the Herns, lived in Swinbrook between 1700 and 1800, probably for longer but my branch moved in 1810 to Chipping Norton They lived in and ran Swinbrook Mill adjacent to the presen Swan Inn. Anthony Hern,b.1716, 5x grat granfather, was described as a clothier and was parish clerk for 47 years succeeded by grandson William Hern, b.1783 for 39 years Connection also by marriage to Asthall Mill. The Mill House was rented in 1920s by Lord Redesdale (Mitfords) and described as 'fishing cottage' ANY INFORMATION about Swinbrook and the Mills or ANYTHING only too welcome!

I am seeking information on Robert and Lizey Twycross who were living in Waterperry in the mid 1700 hundreds. I don't know whether or not they were born there but two of their three children that I know of were. Their names were Rob - baptised 1745 and Steven - baptised 1746. Records show that Stephen became a fashionable jeweller in Holborn, London but nothing more is known of the parents or Rob, the brother. A third brother was born in Brill, Buckinghamshire in 1737 and he went on to become Capt.Robert Twycross RN and married Lydia Goodwin in Masachusetts in 1764. I am researching the BUSHNELL family fron Whitchurch Oxon. My Gr x 2 Grandfather , Nathan Bushnell b 1836 was landlord of the Greyhound pub in Whitchurch. His father was Thomas Bushnell b 1803 in Whitchurch who is also shown in 1861 census as a 'Beer Retailer'

He married Mary (Barker?) from Seamer in Yorkshire and moved to Bullocks Acre, Wooburn Green, Bucks. where he farmed 24 acres. He then was listedas farming at Northern Woods farm where he died on his birthday, 25th of December 1879. Known children were William, Anne, Joseph, Mary Anne, Sarah, Elijah and Elizabeth.

I am trying to trace the line of Zilpha Buswell, I think she married a William Scott in 1860. I have found Zilpha in the 1851 census aged 16 working as a servant at the Swan Inn, Glympton, Oxfordshire, and found her marriage record on FreeBmd, but she and William seem to disappear without trace after that! I could not find either of them on any subsequent census, nor any death or re-marriage for either of them. Can anyone help? Many thanks, Hilary

Joseph was born 1903 son of Sydney and Margaret Wise in Wroxton. The family moved to London after two of their sons had been killed in the frist World War 1918. In 1923 his mother paid £5 passage for her son Joseph to work in Canada as a harvester in 1931 he cross the boarder to USA.Any information however small would be very much appreciated. thank you so very much Anne

William Tollett was born about 1839 Begbroke ,Yarton. His parents worked as farmers on Spring Hill Farm, Begbroke. William became a Master tailor and lived with his family( i have info about all his children) (married twice) in Holywell St. Oxford Does anyone have any links with this family ? It would be great to have any info and more details about his origins.Where did the Tolletts come from before 1820? Thanks
