I am trying to confirm birth and parent details for my 5th great grandfather, William GILL also known as HEWITT. From his convict records to Australia in 1807, it states he is from Oxfordshire. We think he was born in Culham in about 1763. If anyone would have any information on him and his parentage, it would be welcome. I am trying to find living relations who come down from my great aunt Emma Smith (nee Stopps). Emma was born in 1909 in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, the daughter of Arthur Stopps and Minnie Boucher. I know little of Emma except that her married name was Smith and she lived in Oxford until her death. I do know she had a son called Paul Smith who was a Bank Manager and lived somewhere in the New Forest in Hampshire.

I am searching for my grandmother Minnie Eugenia Read born in 1895.I know very little about her except that she gave birth to my late father in the Portsmouth Workhouse in 1915 and was unmarried.At the time she was a domestic servant at 25 Silver Street, Southsea, Hants.She's not on the 1901 census, but I have just found her on the 1911 census.Her birthplace is listed as Devonport, Oxon and she's a servant living in a tavern in Portsmouth. I cannot find any trace of a Devonport in Oxfordshire nor can I find any likely Read families in Oxford in 1901.I'm wondering if any one has any ideas for me? Please? I am seeking any information on my GG Grandmother KETURAH CALCUTT born in Combe, Oxfordshire abt.1813. Keturah is the correct spelling of her name but the birth/baptism transcription for the local parish record was mis-spelt as 'Caturn'. Her Father was WILLIAM CALCUTT and her Mother MARY NOBES. Keturah married John Goodwin who served in the Grenadier Guards. They lived in central London where most of their children were born and Keturah died in South Chelsea in 1881. I am especially interested in seeking more information on the reason for the CALCUTT family's move from Oxon to London early 1830's.
